July 2023 I had the privilege of going on safari with Conway’s Africa to Encounter Mara, a luxury camp located within the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Conway’s Africa is a private luxury safari company based out of Kenya. Owners and brothers, Andrew and Micah Conway are private safari guides with over 15 years of combined experience in the luxury tourism industry. Every minute of my safari experience was planned, customized and simplified for me. I often joke, I didn’t have to think for myself once. All of the things that might seem intimidating when traveling to Africa were taken care of. I was left with the privilege to have no other responsibility but to enjoy and marvel. Every evening game drive concluded with a sundowner. A sundowner, otherwise known as a “safari-inspired happy hour”, is the most picturesque end to a day that undoubtedly left everyone in awe. The unfortunate side effect of this experience – happy hours in Texas just don’t seem to do the trick for me anymore.
